Terry G and Waconzy chop off their dreadlocks!
It’s the ‘Chop your dreads off’ season
in the Nigerian entertainment industry and a few of our beloved
entertainers are keeping with the trend. Pop singers Terry G and Waconzy recently shared new photos of themselves spotting a new look – they’ve both shaved their locks off!
Waconzy calls his new look ‘Waconzy 2.0‘; he went an extra mile by adding a blonde tinge to his hair. Mr Ginjah on the other opted for a very low Mo’Hawk look.
It started with Faze last year who went for a more ‘serene’ look. He was followed by Timaya. The most recent to follow the trend is comedian Basketmouth although he didn’t go for a complete shave-off.
So why are our dreaded stars chopping
their locks off? Some would point out that it might have to do with the
artiste’s way of re-branding. ‘New album on the way means – new image,
new look, something to talk about’, a publicist tells us.
So what do you think about their new look?

‘I’ve been close to D’banj from day one’ Ikechukwu explains
The closure of Mo’ HIts label resulted into a lot of things including the split of the label acts. While Don Jazzy gained the support of the trio of Wande Coal, Dr SID and D’Prince, D’banj was left with his brother, K Switch, hype man Special Ed and rapper, Ikechukwu who was a major affiliate
While K Switch and Special Ed’s
decisions are understandable, that of Ikechukwu has remained a mystery
to many especially as a lot of people had perceived him to be a friend
of producer Don Jazzy, who is responsible for his ‘Wind Am Well‘ hit track. Ikechukwu had also fallen out with D’banj, leading to a bitter quarell before both rec0nciled.
But both acts have remained close,
especially following the Mo’Hits brouhaha. Apart from Naeto C, who is
one of D’Banj’s closest friends, Ikechukwu we’re told, is one of the few
other D’banj colleagues ‘in whom he’s well pleased’.
He was present when D’banj made his first post Mo Hits split performance on Friday June 8, 2012, during the Benin leg of Star Trek, which also marked D’banj’s 32nd birthday. And he’s since joined him for many other gigs here and abroad.
‘I have heard a lot about my
relationship with D’banj. Some people call me his houseboy, bouncer, and
the rest, but let me say this, I have been close to D’banj since day
one. The first time I saw him was at Obi Asika’s house, when he was
about signing to Storm Records…and if you’re observant, you would have
discovered that we have similar features; he’s lepa just like me and we
have same swagger. So we’ve created some kind of bond right from time
which I was not opportuned to share with Don Jazzy. I only find people
that find me, simple! Those that I am important to are those that are
important to me. I am just chilling with D’banj and now that he’s making
a stand abroad, it’s going to be stupid of me not to utilize the
situation he already has. So, we are not just friends, we are also doing
business’, Ikechukwu said in a recent interview.
PHOTO: Genevieve chilling with no weave or make up on
You’ll admit it’s quite rare to see Genevieve Nnaji without rocking one form of hair extension or the other but the Nollywood diva surprised everyone recently when she Instagramed a picture of herself without any weave or makeup on!
‘Hair on or off‘, the photo’s
caption read. Longtime Genny fans won’t be very surprised though –
they’ll testify they’ve seen this look, some years back, way before the
33-year-old made it big in Nollywood.
So tell us, do you like Genevieve’s natural look?
Baba Suwe to shoot movie on NDLEA ordeal
Babatunde Omidina better known as Baba Suwe is set to commence shooting of a movie which will capture his much publicized ordeal with the NDLEA.
This will be his first movie production after he was pronounced a free man and released from the claw of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) which detained him for over 24 days over allegations of drug trafficking.
‘There is a film I am working on
right now but whether I plan to do a movie on that matter, I will say
yes. Maybe in the future though many people have contacted me to do a
movie but I am still taking my time and God’s willing, I shall visit
that matter as soon as I can get myself together’, the actor told Channels TV.
Meanwhile, the actor continues his
battle with the NDLEA. He is set to appear at the Court of Appeal, Lagos
Division on October 19, on stay of execution of the judgement of
Justice Yetunde Idowu of a Lagos High Court, who ordered the agency to pay N25m to the actor as compensation for detaining him unduly.

MUSIC: Oritse Femi – Religion War + Omo Toh Shan + Tomorrow ft Reminisce
Oritse Femi is known for his conscious indigenous sound. He uses
music as a tool to criticize the government and sing about the reality
of the average Nigerian youth on the streets. Past hits like “Mercies of the Lord” and “Better”
are 2 of several songs that carry such message. His new album “The
Musical Taliban” is now in stores. As usual, he puts out some conscious
songs and mixes it up with a few commercial/party tunes.
I’ve attached 3 of ‘em; “Religion War”, “Omo Toh Shan” and “Tomorrow” (featuring Reminisce), to this post. If you love that Ajegunle/Warri street sound then this one’s for you. Cop that “The Musical Taliban” album from the nearest roadside vendor asap!
